A new state law in Missouri lowered the St. Louis minimum wage from $10 per hour to $7.70, taking cash out of the pockets of hardworking Missourians. Kansas City voted last month to raise its minimum wage, but the new state law nullifies that victory for working people before it can even take effect.
Work should lift us up, not hold us down in poverty. Working families shouldn’t struggle to put food on the table or afford the basics, but the anti-worker politicians in Missouri have put the interests of their millionaire donors ahead of regular working families.
We should be raising working people’s pay, not taking it away.
