A new Agreement negotiated by the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) Amtrak Eastern General Committee with the National Passenger Railroad Corporation (AMTRAK) was approved by membership ratification and became effective May 3, 2018. Nearly 700 members work in the Communications and Signal Departments covered under this Agreement which provides for wage increases through 2021, along with retroactive backpay, which is expected to be paid prior to July 1, 2018. The monthly healthcare contribution was slightly decreased and will remain frozen until addressed or changed in the next round of bargaining. New benefits under the healthcare include a new-hire alternative healthcare plan beginning in 2019. The Agreement shall remain in effect until amended under the terms and conditions of the Railway Labor Act.
